The authors of the volume under review make no apology in stating that it is designed to supplement, but not to supplant, teaching at the bedside and clinical lectures. Consequently the practice rather than the theory of surgery is dealt withThe teaching is that of the general surgical staff of St. Bartholomew's Hospital, the services of every member of which has been secured in the writing of the various sections. The book might well be called the Principles and Practice of Surgery at " Bart's."
